This calculator assumes a constant equivalent monthly return derived from the expected annual return. Actual market returns fluctuate and may differ significantly from this illustration.

What Is a Systematic Withdrawal Plan?

A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) allows an investor to withdraw a specified amount from an investment at regular intervals, commonly monthly. The remaining investment continues to be exposed to market movements.

How Does This Calculator Help?

This calculator estimates the total amount withdrawn and the remaining corpus based on your initial investment, monthly withdrawal, assumed annual return and selected period.

How Is SWP Calculated?

The calculator first converts the assumed annual return into an equivalent monthly rate:

Monthly Rate = (1 + R)1/12 − 1

Each month, the estimated return is added to the balance and the monthly withdrawal is deducted. This process repeats until the selected period ends or the corpus is exhausted.

Understand SWP Risks

Actual investment returns are not constant. Market volatility, withdrawal timing, taxes and other applicable charges can affect how long a corpus lasts. A fixed withdrawal amount may not be sustainable in every market condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an SWP calculator?

An SWP calculator estimates regular withdrawals from an investment and the potential balance remaining after those withdrawals.

2. Are SWP withdrawals guaranteed?

The calculator provides mathematical estimates. Actual mutual fund values fluctuate with the market, and the available corpus may reduce faster or slower than estimated.

3. Can my investment corpus become zero?

Yes. If withdrawals exceed the available balance after accounting for investment performance, the corpus can be exhausted before the selected period ends.

4. Does this calculator include taxes and charges?

No. This simplified estimate does not include taxes, exit loads, expense ratios or other applicable charges.
